My students need exposure and tools though these helpful books and visuals to become the best young singers that they can be while have a blast doing it!
My school focuses on raising children to be "global citizens" who are exposed to all different types of cultures and traditions. This school year the students will be learning how to play piano (C, D, & E), play the ukulele (C, F, & G chords), master the ability to recognize and demonstrate a steady beat, identify and utilize their 4 voices, and read quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, quarter rests, and half rests, and read and write "sol", "mi", "la", and "do" on the five-line-staff. The students in my classes come from tremendously diverse families in terms of background, race, religion, tax bracket, and personality.
My Project
These singing books, materials, and visuals will help my students explore and discover their voices in an engaging and memorable way. All of my students use their voices in a variety of ways (as seen first-hand in settings like at recess, lunch-time, and choice-time), but many struggle with finding and being able to demonstrate the use their singing voice. Materials and visuals like the stepwise glockenspiel, the bluebird puppet, and the auditory feedback phones will help my students better understand the difference between "high" and "low" as opposed to "loud" and "soft" in addition to having them be more aware of their own sound. These wonderful books are full of activities and songs that will not only help them creatively find their voices, but also expose them to music from Japan, Mexico, and other countries.
