My students need reading and writing materials to help promote learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a teacher of an Autism classroom in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. The reading materials I have selected will help my students become readers, enjoy reading and be able to share their reading experiences outside of the school environment.
The students range from grades 2 through 5 their ability levels range from a 3-year-old to 1st-grade level.
The kids are happy to learn and be at school. The materials I have selected will help the students pre-prepare for life skills and be a productive
My students need reading and activities that focus on sight words, alphabet, letter recognition, and writing. My students will use these materials to explore their ability through building by recognizing sight words, making letters and sounds, and then words! These activities will be used during Reading times, throughout the day as we read and write while learning together. Level 1 readers will be used for my beginner readers to begin recognizing and sounding out words. Level 2 readers will be for those students that are emergent readers and to promote their interest in reading outside the classroom environment.
The Students be able to use the reading materials and manipulatives during our whole group and small group time, learning letters and sounds as they make words to increase their vocabulary and writing skills.
Most of the students in my class are just beginning for write and learn letters, The manipulatives is a beginning step for them to recognize, form and sound out the letters.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our Autism classroom by building a stronger reader and writer. This will change our students' lives for the better. It is the first step in teaching my students pre-vocational skills at an early age to begin preparation for pre-vocational skills. They will love school and feel success at an early age --- having fun while learning!
