Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When our first Donors Choose project was funded, my students were so surprised and grateful. It was such a huge learning experience for them. We read our donors' comments and talked about why people donate to classrooms. My students are beginning to realize that what they do in school is important and it matters! It matters to their teacher and now they know it matters to others outside our little classroom community.
My first graders know that they are the future because a donor said so!
Futures are built with experiences. In my classroom students are building their futures everyday with experiences that they have during STEAM time. During STEAM they are able freely explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. My students get to make their own learning choices and work with others. They love thinking of experiments and inventing their new tools. Anyone need an arm made of straws? We have one! How about a chair made of rolled up construction paper? We have one of those too! Do you know what happens to a Skittle when you put it in seltzer water? We do!
My Project
Your donation will help buy materials that will be available to my first graders during their daily STEAM time. The easel will give my little artists a permanent place where they can paint. Unlike whole group art lessons, students will be able to come up with their own ideas. They can paint what has meaning to them. They can create art that comes from their own life experiences and imagination.
Future engineers and architects will love discovering the laws of physics!
With our new Keva Planks and Contraptions, my first graders will experiment first hand with gravity, force and motion. Students will be able to plan, build and test tunnels, funnels, ramps and chutes. They can create structures and investigate stability. The learning opportunities and experiences are endless!
