My students need engineering and STEM-based manipulatives such as building shapes, timber blocks, magnetic tiles, water pipes, IO blocks, kinetic sand, a magnet kit and marble runs to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) mindsets!

My Students
The students in our school are from many different walks of life. We are a multilingual and multicultural school community. In Kindergarten, we have 15 languages spoken and countries represented. Our classroom culture is built on our daily routines and creating commonly shared learning experiences. We seek to eliminate barriers to educational enrichment by providing all our students with opportunities to grow and learn. This is no easy task given 90% of our students meet the federal guidelines for free or reduced-price lunch. Many of our students do not have building bricks, blocks, and other building materials at home or have not had prior experiences to the building, engineering, and science. With your help, I would love to provide that experience for our students.
My Project
As a child, the excitement of exploring different manipulatives and materials is what keeps your imagination running and growing. Exposing children to these types of materials is crucial to sparking their interest and teaching these basic exploration ideas at a young age. Currently, I do not have materials that will support my students in STEM-based activities. Your donations will buy building shapes, timber blocks, magnetic tiles, water pipes, kinetic sand, IO blocks, a magnet kit and marble runs to promote STEM-based mindsets and learning in the classroom. With the support of engineering and science-based materials, I will be able to pull together play based centers and exploration around all common core standards. This will also allow many students who do not have the opportunity to experience these materials and explorations in their home life the chance to do so in a safe and supportive environment.
