My Kindergarten students are simply wonderful! We are the largest district in the state of NH. My classroom is a community of learners that come from many different economic and ethnic backgrounds, many of whom come from high poverty areas. Our school is a Title I school and 65% of our school's population receive free or reduced-price lunch.

As we build this community, we learn about what we have in common and celebrate our differences. This is true whether we are in the classroom or learning remotely.
My Project
Block play allows children to co-construct and negotiate. They take turns, share materials and cooperate with others. It is a great way to make new friends and work as a team. It also encourages independence, increases attention span and develops their sense of self. Right now, the blocks in my classroom are in wooden buckets that make it difficult for my Kindergarten students to find the blocks they need and to effectively put them away. This project will allow me to organize the blocks to make play time even more enjoyable! I plan to use the laminating machine to copy block templates that give students ideas for structures they can build! Funding this project would truly be a win-win for my class!
