Building Fluency=Success In Math

My students need multiplication and division flash cards so that they can become fluent in math.

My Students

I teach math and science at a Title One school in Florida. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over sixty percent of our students receiving free lunch. My students walk into my classroom everyday full of life, ready to learn and excited for the future. I focus on their potential growth while they are with me. I want their experience during the school day with me to be a positive one. I try my best to make learning creative and fun.

My Project

My students need flash cards so that they can pair up and practice their math facts in class and at home. Students who do not know their math facts, struggle everyday in class. I normally have students make their own flash cards. I believe that store bought flash cards will be more appealing to the students.

These flash cards would be used during class within our math stations.

I also plan to have students bring the flash cards home to study. Students need to have the ability to recall basic facts quickly and effortlessly. When students achieve automaticly with these facts, they have attained a level of mastery that enables them to retrieve them for long-term memory without conscious effort or attention.
