My students need one Genres of Literature Readers’ Theater Script Boxes - Gr. 3-4, Building Fluency Card Banks - Gr. 1-6, Readers' Theatre Script Boxes, Grades 1-6, and Fluency & Comprehension Partner Scripts, Grades 1-4.
My goal for all of my students this year and in the future is for them to become fluent readers who discover passion and comfort through reading. If I can give my students the ability to read with fluency and automaticity I am confident that they will become lifetime readers.
I teach students from a wide range of ethnicity's, socio-economic statuses, and family situations.
One thing that they all share in common is their ability to achieve their dreams.
In my current teaching position students are making the switch from learning to read to reading to learn. Unfortunately many of my students still lack the ability to read fluently, which in turn effects their ability to fully understand what they are reading.
My Project
If I receive the funding needed for new fluency resources, I will be able to provide my students with the opportunity to partake in daily reading, fluency, and comprehension practice. The materials I am requesting are Genres of Literature Readers’ Theater Script Boxes, Building Fluency Card Banks, Readers' Theatre Script Boxes, and Fluency & Comprehension Partner Scripts.
Students will be taught to monitor, become aware of, and responsible for their daily progress in reading. They will access the resources during daily classroom stations. Students will also have a fluency folder that will travel between school and home with support and suggestions for family to guide their student in reading growth.
Street signs, restaurant menus, job applications, and directions are just a few of the many ways that we rely on our ability to read everyday.
When students gain the ability to read fluently they will gain momentum in other subject areas as well. Students will also gain confidence in their view of themselves as a reader.
