My students need white art paper, a Suncatchers craft kit, rubbing plates, rubbing crayons, and Collage Center Trays to hold all their supplies for their art projects.
I am the K-2 Title I reading teacher in a low income southwest Missouri school district. I work with approximately 30 students, either individually or in small groups.
I love working with the youngest struggling readers who usually still have the "love of learning".
Their potential for learning can only go up if I can help them see the relevance of how learning to read is a vital life-long skill.
I do a variety of reading assessments to help guide my instruction and also collaborate with the classroom teachers. I strive to use many multi-sensory strategies to address my students' many learning needs.
My Project
Children love to be messy and creative while exploring and improving their fine motor skills. I am planning to teach two different prekindergarten "special" classes this summer and my principal said to do something fun. I will have them for 50 minutes/ 4 times a week for a month. I am planning to do art, music, P.E. with them.
The collage center trays will help my students to keep all of their work in one space while working on a variety of art projects.
These trays will allow them to keep themselves organized so they don't lose their pieces. They will help me keep their projects together in one spot when our projects takes more than one day to complete.
This Suncatcher kit has a butterfly, turtle, and a fish cut out for them to choose from to glue tissue paper for a stained glass effect. Colorful paper, pattern paper squares, and white paper will make cutting, designing, and drawing projects fun.
Each student can choose from 12 different rubbing plates such as a fish or cow to add to their projects and paint or color them.
