The children in my classroom are ages 3 through 5 and come to us from an economically disadvantaged community. All the children in my Pre-K class qualify for free lunch.
Through our high quality program, these children are able to build a strong foundation before they enter kindergarten.
The children in my class approach learning head on with a "can-do" attitude. We love to do a variety of hands on learning experiences! You can find us on a nature walk exploring, listening and engaging in exciting stories or writing our own, or being creative in our classroom with art materials or blocks.
My Project
Please help me give my students engaging toys that promote the growth of their fine motor skills. Having strong fine motor skills is the foundation of writing. Children often come to our classroom without good use of their fine motor skills. In our classroom we are teaching how to hold writing tools, perform tasks such as buttoning and zippering their coats and opening their milk containers at lunch.
We know that play is a child's work, so providing materials and learning experiences in the classroom is imperative to building these skills.
We want our children to be prepared to use writing utensils, and must help them build the muscles and skills that they need to do so.
