Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I School where over half of our population is English Language Learners. My students are energetic, excited, and eager to learn. They come in every morning with smiles on their faces, and truly enjoy learning new things. It is amazing to see the look they get when they make a connection and have that "lightbulb" moment.
The culture and diversity that my students bring to the classroom is amazing.
I am their teacher, but they teach me something new every day.
My Project
These materials will be used with my students to help build their phonics and word building skills. Most of my students are English Language Learners, so they need extra support in this area. Second grade is the last grade where they really focus on "learning to read", which is why it is so important for them to have these skills by the end of the year.
These materials will help me individualize their learning during small group, while also working hands-on.
My students come into the classroom so excited to learn every day. I know that these materials will make them even more excited to learn, while also giving them the foundational skills they need.
