I teach at a Title I school in Wisconsin where close to 60 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and receive backpack food on the weekends. Others are coming to our school as refugees and trying to learn the English language and American culture for the very first time. Lastly, many of my students have a difficult home life and or have experienced traumas in their lives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. I am here as their voice to ask for help so that they can have access to all the things they need to make all their dreams come true!
My Project
With this pandemic my students have lost practice in their socialization skills and emotional regulation. It is my hope that I can help my students continue to grow by providing them real-life experiences and situations where they can utilize these skills. The LEGO bricks and base plates will provide an opportunity for my students to be creative while also learning how to collaborate and work together towards goals. The gift card from TpT is going to be extremely useful in providing my students with different STEM lesson activities and assignments that will help them grow as a 20th century learner. I will use the picture books during read-aloud time where we will discuss what happened in the book and how we can apply it to our own lives. The desktop computer pad is going to be very helpful for me to stay organized with the list of things I need to get done daily. Every day it changes so this whiteboard desktop will allow me to erase as I complete tasks and add on new ones.
