My students are special in so many ways! They are always eager to learn and willing to try new things. Most of my students come from lower income families, so I'm always looking for ways to enrich their learning.
Kindergarteners are like little sponges... they soak up learning quickly and enjoy doing so!
My students are very energetic and love using new tools to help them learn.
My kindergarteners come into my classroom with a lot of different needs. Some have basic needs like clean clothes, breakfast, or an extra hug. Some children need to be challenged academically. Others need more support with fine motor and social skills.
My Project
These manipulatives will provide my students the opportunity to explore through play. The children will not only be investigating science and STEM concepts such as problem solving (Pipe Builders), magnets (Magna-Tiles), and building (Playstix), but also be enhancing their fine motor skills like pinching, pulling, and squeezing. More and more children are coming to school without basic social skills; these manipulatives will increase sharing, taking turns, and playing with other children. I would like to use these materials as morning discovery bins in replacement of paper and pencil work. I want my children to learn in a developmentally appropriate way. My students need the opportunity to be children in our ever changing world.
