My classroom consists of a diverse population, from all over the world. Many of them are English Language Learners, come from low income families and are growing up in inner city neighborhoods. At school they are provided with free breakfast and lunch and many of them are given backpacks of food every Friday to ensure they are fed over the weekend.
Despite the obstacles they face daily outside of school, they continue to show up eager to learn.
I consider my students to be the most caring, generous, understanding and helpful children that I know. They deserve the best education regardless of where they come from. When they enter my classroom, they feel safe and know they have the opportunity to find their strengths through engaging, hands-on learning.
My goal is to provide the necessary resources for an exciting and rich learning experience, especially for those who lack that opportunity in their home environment. If my students are fortunate enough to obtain these types of resources, this will help them develop the skills needed to be and feel successful. This will give them exposure to new types of learning.
My Project
As a teacher, our goal is to get our students to find passion in what they do and to learn how to independently problem solve on their own. Having these STEM activities will do just that! These activities will also encourage them to problem solve together and provide authentic growth and development.
STEM activities gives students room to explore, experiment, and solve problems logically.
STEM enables the next generation of innovators. Having these blocks, magna tiles and engineering centers will provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for students. With these centers they will be able to build, manipulate, plan and design. In order to keep up with 21st century innovations, students need to be exposed to STEM in order to develop their capabilities in this field.
