My Students

My students range from first grade to fifth grade. We are a self contained class because of lack of social skills. We teach the students techniques that they can use to replace the inappropriate behaviors they exhibit when they become frustrated.

The main goal for us is to see that the students move from being in a self-contained classroom setting to an inclusion classroom.

We hope to accomplish this by using the coping skills they learned to make better choices on how to act when frustrated.

My Project

Hurricane Harvey affected our school district as well as our school. We had many families displaced from there homes for a period of time. Our school district also had to cancel school for two complete weeks. This event affected my students in a negative way.

The materials, social skill board game, Know the Code kit, foam balls, and noise reduction headphones I am requesting will allow my students to learn through games that teach and reinforce the social skills they have learned.

These materials will make learning interactive and fun for my students. It will keep them engaged and reinforce that learning and school is fun. It will also help my students meet their goal of moving into an inclusion classroom.
