Building Confident Readers With Decodable Books

My Project

I am a second grade teacher in a wonderful yet disadvantaged school. 100% of our students receive free lunch as determined by their income. 50% of my students receive pull out services for learning support or english as a second language. I am requesting several sets of decodable readers to support my struggling readers in skills that we are working on each week.

Decodable books play a crucial role in supporting struggling readers by providing a structured approach to learning to read.

These books are designed with a systematic progression of phonetic patterns, allowing readers to practice decoding skills and gain confidence in their reading abilities. For struggling readers, decoding words can be a challenging task, and decodable books offer a targeted and sequential method to build foundational phonics skills. This structured approach helps enhance fluency, comprehension, and overall literacy development, fostering a positive reading experience. Ultimately, decodable books serve as valuable tools in empowering struggling readers to overcome obstacles and enjoy the transformative journey of becoming proficient readers.
