As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking forward to giving them the best learning environment I possibly can. I want them to feel comfortable and be able to make choices in the classroom. As a teacher of an inclusion class, there are special education, EIP, and regular students within the class. I want them to know I believe in them and they are all unique and extraordinary. They should know that they can do anything they set their minds to.
I teach at a small rural school in West Georgia where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite the challenges they face, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
When at the computer, kindergartens have a hard time using a traditional computer mouse. They will click the wrong button or scroll around without meaning to. The keyboards are hard for them to find the letters or numbers with so many buttons and with it all the same color.
The kids end up not getting to work or learn on the computer because they can not use the mouse and keyboard very effectively.
With the use of a color-coded mouse and color-coded keyboards, the students will be able to work on the computer without having to worry about figuring out how to work the mouse and keyboard first.
