I teach third grade at a diverse, Title I school in Southwest Florida. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are an "A" school and one of 27 schools chosen by The Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC) for "Exceeding Expectations." Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed.
I have high expectations for my students and I have a rule in my classroom - "You should never be doing nothing."
Thanks to DonorsChoose.org, I have an "Enrichment" area in my classroom where students can go when they are done with their regular work.
My Project
Our enrichment area to contains STEM activity cards, a variety of building materials (straws, popsicle sticks, magnetic tiles, LEGOs, etc), and challenging activities (such as a Rubik's cube and tangram puzzles).
My students' favorite activity in our enrichment area is to build with LEGOs!
However, we have no mini-figures to go with the bricks - I am VERY aware of this deficit because my students remind me DAILY that we need some mini-figures!! I'm requesting LEGO mini-figures to add to our LEGO area along with some idea books to help my students practice fine motor skills, following step-by-step instructions, and develop their creativity.
Thank you for helping me fill this simple request for my students!
