Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a charter school with the goal of getting them to and through college. They work hard and play hard. They are creative, kind, imaginative and funny. They love getting a chance to explore the world around them and often come to school showing their creations they've worked on at home, whether it's a Lego sculpture, a letter they've written a teacher or a drawing they've worked on for weeks. They all love learning in groups and take pride in their hard work. I'm so thankful that I get to work with them every day.
My Project
The variety of games will not only help children with problem solving, but also help build community and have fun. We will use all of these games for enrichment, indoor recess and celebrating our hard work after a test. I also intend to use the Legos and Magna-Tiles as a creative story-starter for our writing. The word games such as Word Snag will help my students build vocabulary and gain confidence in their English.
My students work so hard and inspire me every day.
I'd love the opportunity to reward, enrich, and remind them that school is also a place to have fun.
