I teach at a Title I school in Jacksonville, FL. Despite facing the challenge of living in a low income/high poverty area my students come to school eager and ready to learn.
I want my students to know that their circumstance(s) does not define them, therefore I set high expectations for my students and we strive everyday to go home learning something that we did not know before.
For most of them Kindergarten is the beginning of their learning experience and I want to be able to give them the best that early education has to offer. I have such a lovable, smart group of children who will one day grow up to be future educators, doctors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, judges, motivational speakers, physicists, international ambassadors, etc. They just need the right tools to help them reach their goals.
This is a great stem activity for my students to use in the classroom. The materials that I am requesting will help all students in my classroom learn how to literally build a community.
They will have a hands on approach to apply real world lessons because they will integrate science, technology, engineering, and math.
Not only will they physically build a community but while working together they will gain a sense of community with each other and learn how each member can be an asset to the group as a whole and make connections between, school, community, and work.
