My students are curious, intuitive and adventurous. They thrive on being some of the best well-rounded students in the area. It is a joy to teach these young people who are respectful with Yes Sir, No Sir, and being great citizens.
Enhancing their education and kindle within them a love of science has been a joy.
While being their Life Science Teacher has rekindled my love of teaching, I want my kids to continue to build responsibility and respect for all life, and understand the joys of living creatures, and the systems in which they thrive.
My Project
Aquariums with live fish have been a calming factor in many places, such as hospitals and doctors' offices; I want the same in feeling within my classroom. Aquariums are set up, ready for fish, and students are looking for the tanks to be full of life. One aquarium will serve as a basic display of an ecosystem with tropical fish that will be a sight for enjoyment, activity and color. The second will be to see fish that students know from fishing and experience watching them grow and mature until we can release them in a local pond or lake. The requested Bass and Bluegills are some of the best fish for this; they will give students the opportunity to learn how to care for aquatic environments as well as understand the fragility of these ecosystems.
The items chosen within this project will expand my students' experience with nature.
The tropical fish tank that will be used to observe an ecosystem in balance, the purchase of Tetra Community Set, Tropical Fish sets, Zebras, and Neons will create a community tank that will be and enjoyment for all. The Large-mouth bass and blue gills will be purchased as juveniles and be placed in a separate tank to be cultivated and released into a near by stream or lake.
