Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The football team is comprised of hard-working kids that have to grow up and become adults at a very young age. They live in one of the poorest areas of California, Salton City, which is next to the Salton Sea. My students have to work, study, and take care of their younger siblings.
These students use football as an escape.
It allows them to be just kids a few hours.
My Project
Football is an intense, aggressive sport. In order to help keep my athletes safe on the field, I teach fundamentals which need to be at the foundation of the game. The equipment that I'm requesting is essential at establishing and providing a safe experience for the children playing football. Equipment such as the rib protector are an important piece of equipment that reduces the chances of injury by protecting the rib cage which is a sensitive area. The girdles also play an important role in safety by reducing the stress put on the hips, thighs and knees. The lifting bar are essential increasing muscular strength, which reduces the chances of injury.
