This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a school counselor in a high poverty school district outside of Philadelphia. They are amazing students, but at times have life situations that may be stressful or upsetting. Often my students are learning to control their emotions in environments or situations out of their own control.
All of my projects go towards school counseling lessons or activities that help support these amazing students that come from a variety of backgrounds.
These projects help me be the best school counselor I can be for them.
My Project
My Building C.A.L.M. project will focus on providing my students opportunities to explore careers, art in counseling, life choices, and mindfulness. I will utilize my Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase lessons to utilize with students in the virtual learning environment through large group activities as well as small groups or individual counseling sessions when we return to the school. Books and paper will help students through a variety of hands-on and read-aloud activities. Students will develop mindfulness strategies to help cope with the stress of learning from home. I also hope to continue to help my students to explore careers as we look to the future during this difficult time.
