My students need a variety of wooden block forms to make the most of their building experiences. Organizing and storing classroom materials safely in a new shelf will help create order and routine they need.
I teach in a Head Start classroom of 15 students who range in age, from 3-5 years old. Our program prides itself on providing quality preschool education while building strong relationships and partnering with our student's families.
My students are full of potential and I have the privilege of guiding them as they discover their surrounding world.
My students come from diverse family backgrounds. I have students from all over the globe in my classroom. This year our classroom represents three continents and my students hear their families speaking four different languages! Everyday when my students enter my classroom they are excited to learn new things and share their discoveries with each other. Because my students are economically disadvantaged I strive to fill our surroundings with meaningful materials and enriching experiences everyday. My goal everyday is to evoke their curiosity, instill a love of learning, and make school a safe, fun place where they want to be in order to give my students the best start I can.
My Project
Wooden building blocks are a classic part of the preschool experience. As students build they learn about measurement, balance, gravity, cause and effect while negotiating space and interacting with peers as they plan masterpieces.
Nothing says preschool like wooden building blocks.
As we focus on STEM activities in our early childhood classrooms, the block area is a perfect place to start as our students have their first experiences as architects and engineers.
Having clipboards available for my student to plan or record their buildings extends their experiences and gives them an artifact to take home to share with their families.
