Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students at our school are just AMAZING! They are motivated and driven to be 21st-century movers and shakers. Most students have an amazing academic work ethic and manage to be quite well-rounded. What makes me the proudest of our students is when I witness compassion for others. During our new science collaboration initiative with students having special needs, patience, kindness, and acceptance poured from the pores of all students involved, and that made me beam with pride and hope for the future.

My Project

As the science department chair, I began a new initiative called “Building Bonds” in which general education students collaborate with students with special needs to conduct science experiments. Our first meeting was an awe-inspiring experience for EVERYONE involved, and we look forward to future collaborations. However, one thing truly bothered me. Our gen-ed students wore awesome embroidered lab coats but the other students did not have one. A true collaboration embraces diversity but with a united front. Thus, it would be greatly appreciated if you would help us buy lab coats for All. Thank you for your consideration and your support.
