This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a school full of creative and innovative students, but we've lacked the resources to provide them with an outlet for that creativity. My school is just starting to develop and implement a STEM program that will get students involved in creative thinking and problem solving that will get students excited about school and the possibilities for their future.

A majority of my students come from low-income homes and are English-Language Learners, and I want to ensure that those limitations do not impede their creativity and their ingenuity.

My Project

I would like to provide the female students at my middle school a chance to explore problem solving and engineering challenges by creating an after school club exclusively for middle-school aged girls. The program I'm implementing will focus on building confidence in STEM related fields while incorporating creative and challenging projects with a female focus.

In order to develop this after school program, my students will need multi-purpose tool kits to successfully complete their projects.

The students will not only learn how to use the tools in each of the kits, but they will also utilize the tools to build creative and innovative projects that display their engineering and programming skills.
