My Students
Second graders are such a fun group of kids to learn with. They are so inquisitive, have a burning desire to learn, and think outside the box. The group of kids that I have love to challenge themselves and show off what they know. They are so excited to have an audience and share their thinking. Their hearts, and mine, explode with joy when they feel confident about their learning, enough to share it with the world! I want each student to feel that confidence daily in our class as much as they can!
My Project
We need magnetic tiles and math links for STEM bins. We also need them to help with blue prints for our genius hour projects. STEM bins are a great way for students to learn and explore. It is also great for team building and working collaboratively. Using these materials will help my students learn shapes, cooperative learning, team/social skills, and engineering practices. Exploration and educational play are some of the best ways for students to learn collaboratively. Our genius hour projects require our students to research, build, and create a final project all on their own. Using some of these materials would be super helpful in creating blue prints for their final project. Often times, it can be forgotten that not everything has to be a structured lesson and that students can come up with the most amazing ideas/projects all on their own, given the right materials. With these materials, we can enhance their learning and engineering practices, as well as work together as a team.
