This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My children have a high interest in learning. Students come from high poverty neighborhoods, which results in a large percentage of free or reduced-price lunch recipients. My children are beginning to learn how to become life-long learners.
My students need building materials so we are able to play together.
This is their first year of school. They are starting their school journeys. As their teacher, I strive to give them as many new learning opportunities as possible in their first year of school. I teach them to be independent and responsible students. Since this year has been virtual from the beginning, it has been more difficult to make sure that my students have the materials that they need to be successful.
My Project
My students love to use their hands to create new things. I miss seeing my students play in my room and engaging with them in meaningful play.
My students would love to have a set of blocks to build and create with at home.
I would love to be able to have time to engage with them and watch their creativity thrive.
We would use the blocks to discuss many concepts in addition to playing with them.
We would be able to talk about math concepts like same and different, big and little, and counting.
