Building Blocks to Build Math and Social Skills in Pre-K
Help me give my students a set of blocks to use during virtual learning while we hold playgroups as well as use them for learning counting skills, patterning, and so much more.
I am a second-year preschool teacher and will always have 16 incredible student explorers. My students will spend their school year ready to explore through play and guidance.
My children are four years old and need hands-on experiences in order to understand their world.
All of my babies come from low-income homes and may have more challenges than most other four years olds. No matter what their home lives may be, I vow to provide the best Pre-K experience that I can no matter what that looks like next year!
My Project
Knowing that my students will be starting their Pre-K year at home is something that keeps me up at night. During those sleepless nights, I try to think of how I can provide the best education, knowing that hands-on learning is KEY to understanding and growth in four-year-olds. In my classroom, a block center is a place where so much learning happens every day.
Having blocks to use and explore with is how my students gain math skills, social-emotional skills, fine motor skills, and problem-solving skills all while their creativity grows.
I would love to be able to provide them with their own set of blocks to use during our virtual academic lessons as well as to use during our friendship building block of time. I can envision them creating all different structures while sharing their physical structure and using language skills to tell us about what they created.
