My Project

One thing students have proven to be over the last year and a half is resilient. Students have spent meaningful years of learning bouncing between in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning. They've been rolling with the punches and just figuring it out alongside teachers. They pushed through, even while many of them were dealing with family job loss, taking care of their siblings, working after school, and caring for sick family members. School was an escape for some of my students, and my goal was and still is to create a classroom environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

More than anything, students want to feel like educators care for them as students and as people.

When they walk into a classroom and know they will have the tools and resources to be successful, they connect with that. They connect with a teacher who cares enough to make sure they have everything available to them.

Being able to provide basic materials for my students enables them to have one less worry off their back. Classroom décor does more than just fill space on walls; it also fosters a classroom environment that promotes learning and engagement.
