My Project

My students struggle to dream. Reaching for the stars is a concept beyond their comprehension. Honestly, they are often just trying to make it through the day without having a breakdown because of a lack of understanding in the general education content. At the elementary level, it has become difficult to motivate students to dream big dreams when they are absorbed in whatever is the trendiest video game or social media at the moment. It is also difficult to motivate students who don't understand the options available to them in the world. When a student doesn't believe they are capable of the simple classroom tasks, asking them to think about their future goals is like asking them to fly.

I believe the elementary years should be the beginning of a student's lifetime goals!

I want to push my students to know what's available to them in the world outside of their bubble. The books requested in this project can do just that! These books are books about BIG DREAMS: books that pull at the heartstrings and encourage students to not be afraid to take chances, imagine, and explore. These books talk about real professions and what it takes to get there. By exploring the options available to them, I believe motivation and greater success are possible! I want to help my students see that anyone can fly, if only you give them the right tools.
