This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Kindergarten students with special needs are awesome! They are diverse learners who love learning! They are active, fun-loving, creative, and curious! We are in a large urban district and my students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities, but they all love school! Benjamin Franklin said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn!" My goal to always involve and engage my students in learning! My students love and derive the most benefit from "hands on" and movement activities.

My Project

Magna tiles have been the most popular manipulative/building item in my classroom for years! There are a multitude of reasons for their popularity with students and teachers. These translucent magnetic tiles provide a fun way to explore geometric concepts and build awesome buildings! They are fun and easy to use even for my students with physical and intellectual challenges.

The tiles help students explore symmetry, area and perimeter, angles, logical thinking, and problem solving.

Hands on experiences are essential for students in early childhood and Magna Tiles provide a perfect hand on activity. The skills that are developed using Magna Tiles are essential for success in math and school.
