This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are coming from low socioeconomic communities and oftentimes they are marginalized. Our band program is self-funded. As a result, sometimes the students have to perform with the bare minimum. Many of my students are visual learners and would greatly benefit from being able to see the field shown from a "bird's eye view". Although they are faced with many stumbling blocks, they still work hard and deserve to see the fruits of their labor. Funding this project would allow my students to see that hard work and diligence pay off.

My Project

With the addition of a drone, my students will be able to assess marching band field shows from an aerial view. The drone would be used during daily band rehearsals in order to receive instant feedback. Instant feedback is very important as a means of self-reflection. This will allow both the teacher and students to review the files and discuss ways to accomplish drill precision.

In keeping with the ever-changing times, having cutting-edge technology gives our band program the ability to be competitive.

I truly believe that my students can achieve greatness with the assistance of today's best practices.
