Help me give my students the ability to think and see like an artist. Books about their favorite artists and medium (crayons) will get them to broaden their horizon of possibilities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our academy staff instills the values of hard work, academic achievement, appreciation for diversity, and leadership among students. We are located in southeast Grand Rapids. We believe if you are seeking teachers who believe in your child’s potential to learn and achieve, then look at our school. Our students grow to understand and believe diversity is something to be celebrated. We have students of many racial and ethnic backgrounds at our school.
My Project
This is a project to strengthen a small library of art resources we have. Adding books about their favorite artist and their most beloved crayons will help my kids to think more creatively about the possibilities of what they can create.
Building their literacy skills through one of their favorite classes, Art, will help my students to see that reading and writing carry over to all of the other facets of their lives.
This project will also allow for the addition of some materials to highlight the contributions of some significant Woman Artists that I frequently teach about.
