This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I always seem to get the sweetest class ever! I have about 17 first graders, 12 are boys and 5 are girls.
We are a Title I school, which means that the majority of the students come from low-income households.
Our school receives free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily. I'm the only teacher in the classroom. My students enjoy coming to school every day. Their favorite part of the day is when they get to read a book to their teacher.
We have so much fun in my class, and the kids love to learn! Please help me to teach them in fun and engaging ways.
My Project
I am requesting funds to purchase two types of books for my students as they attend the remainder of their school year from home due to COVID-19. I would like to give each student a box of 16 easy-to-read books. This box includes an activity book and parent guide so that parents can easily foster their child's learning. The next set of books is specially formatted to allow my first graders to take turns reading with their parents. The books include a higher leveled reading page for the parents, and a lower level reading page for the child.
Attending first grade from your living-room has its challenges.
Please help me to provide books and parent guides, for my students, as they begin distant learning.
