This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach sixteen bright and fun loving first grade students. Every morning they come to school eager to learn new things despite being from a low income area. Despite the challenges that my students face they come to school prepared to learn in a classroom environment that is rich in learning & in an atmosphere set for them to excel.
Many of my students are active so I allow them to move around often.
It is their classroom, they are given the opportunity to be the leader with many classroom roles assigned to them daily. The students are encouraged to voice their opinions & ideas for many of the activities planned. They are excited to learn & I am excited to teach them!
My Project
Every student needs a strong foundation in order to be the most successful that he or she can be. My first grade student's foundation is being built around strong phonetic & mathematical skills. In order to set the groundwork, they need the age appropriate, hands-on, learning materials.
These activities will encourage my students to utilize critical thinking and apply what he or she has learned to everyday situations.
I am requesting items for my students to work independently or with me during our station rotations. The stations are meant to be simple yet engaging and will provide a stepping stone to my students success.
