Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing. I have never experienced a more empathetic group of students. With the home lives they live and lack of family support that many of them come from, one would expect that these students should be focusing on themselves. This is not the case with this class. They include each other and do their best to try and help fellow students learn. It is impressive how they work together.
Not only do these students work together, they work hard.
Even though they struggle on a project or activity when an adult might think it does not look "as good" as my students tell one another that is does look nice because they recognize that their fellow classmate did their best.
This is a great group of kids who deserve the best.
My Project
To be successful in school every student needs a strong foundation. As first grade teachers, we recognize that we are part of building that academic foundation. In every content area, we recognize that it is vital to support learning and development of each student.
Especially in mathematics we know that the right curriculum program can help us provide that solid base needed by every single student.
The McGraw-Hill My Math program is just what we need here at our school. Providing students with their own copies of the student bundles will give them an opportunity for independent practice. The teacher center will help me provide them with the support they need. This program is student and teacher friendly and will help up provide the academic support that our students need and we are eager to see our students excel.
