Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They are active and full of life! They are a diverse bunch and enjoy being challenged. They really enjoy reading and sharing their ideas. Overall, my students struggle with math and reading. They love when they have opportunities to read books they can relate to, and use math manipulatives.
The community my students live in is low income but full of life and support.
The parents and community members are always eager to come and see what we are doing in class and help out when they can.
My Project
These books will help relate our curriculum to their lives to increase engagement and help them generalize the information we learn in the classroom. My students love to read, and allowing them to read about the math topics we are learning will help them better understand the concepts. These books will help them understand math in the real world and help them apply the concepts to word problems. These books will also help my students read more. They love reading, and giving them variety in our classroom library will appeal to more of my students and the students that visit our classroom.
