Our students are composed of a majority Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders who live on Hawaiian Homestead and low-income rental housing projects.
They have a very limited perception of worldview because of a lack of opportunities and travel outside of our small community.
They have unique personalities, but they are very loyal and dedicated. No one knows their abilities because they are not portrayed to the public. The only representation of our community is negative media and below-average demographics. We are here to make a positive change.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting basic materials and supplies to create a simple Science Lab. I am requesting items such as Lab Coats, Microscope Slides, Food Scales, and Exam Gloves. We are trying to continue to build upon our first project that got funded for our Science Lab. These are just some of the few items that I am hoping we can obtain to continue building our Science Lab. With these items, I will be able to conduct simple science experiments and activities that we aren't able to do because of lack of funding. Before, our school only had one Science Lab that was used by the upper grade levels. I want to create a small scale one so the students can have these experiences before moving up in grade levels.
