This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classroom is a happy place, a safe environment and a home for many of these children. My biggest challenge is giving them the tools and technology they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. My students have computers to use but they do not get to take home any projects or work.

My school is located in a low income poverty stricken area in the inner city.

My students are emotionally disturbed, autistic, and learning disabled. My students are energetic and fun but many times they become sad and frustrated. We do not get an abundance of materials and it is up to the teachers as well as the donors to help us build our classroom.

My Project

By funding the headphones and printers it will allow my students to build their technology center in the classroom. They will be able to use the headphones during independent study and be able to listen to books as well as instruction. Many of these students have difficulty reading and this will only assist them in reading comprehension. The printers will allow for these students to see their work in their hands and take it home to their parents. It will allow us to dress up the classroom with photos of our school family. They will also learn how to take care and maintain the technology they will be given and be hands on in ensuring it remains in the classroom for many years.

These donations will make a huge difference because it will enhance student learning.

It will give them excitement knowing that when they come to class there will be something new and exciting. It will help those struggling readers and it will sure that the students will take ownership of their classwork and be proud to display it or show it off to fiends and family.
