My ninth and tenth grade students are lively, goal-centered, and on their way to building a passion for reading! They love when our lessons have an added artistic flare!
They're building their love for reading through engaging literature: from ghost stories to graphic novels and the classics, they're beginning to see reading from a whole new light!
Although each of my students is one or more grade levels behind in reading, they are truly an incredible group! In our class, we started with the basics and continue to our way up to on-grade-level material! Building confidence in their reading abilities has been key to motivating them to spur on to success!
My Project
Freckle Juice, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and The Outsiders: the titles alone pull the reader in to a world where they can escape their everyday worries!
The use of high-interest books is paramount in helping struggling readers build their passion for reading!
These books will help engage our ninth and tenth grade reading intervention students, so they read more, build better fluency and stronger comprehension skills, all while increasing their reading levels!
Engaging struggling readers is half the battle. When we put books in their hands, we help build their reading levels, making success in all their on-grade-level classes more attainable!
