Science Education should be hands on, fun, and learning in the students’ environment. Yet my students don't have the materials to experiment! Young students should be exposed to scientific thinking and experimentation!
My students attend a Full Day Pre-Kindergarten Program in a Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth grade Public Elementary School.
The school receives Title 1 funding. The school is located in urban Maryland. My class is very diverse with many different races and ethnicity's represented. My class has inclusion and English second other language learners'.
My young students love to learn! Learning is bliss to my class. The joy of mastering a new still is clearly shown on their faces. My students learn best through doing and these new science materials will allow my students to actively participate in the learning experience!
My Project
My students deserve to have Science materials that are up to date and fully functioning. I am requesting a Multi-Purpose Unit, new furniture which will give my students a place to perform Science experiments and store all of Science materials. I am also requesting new science center materials such as new magnet sets and magneatostum.
The students will also get to discover the life sciences with hands on activity using the sensory dome and butterfly garden set. The students will use their five senses with the Whatzit Box. These materials will be used to supplement the current curriculum by providing the students with hands on science learning experiences. My student will also get to learn about life sciences and different animal habitats. Young students learn best by doing and relating to the world around them. These new materials will help create a strong Science background for my students!
Funding this project will give my students the materials to develop a positive outlook and experiences with the wild world of Science.
The Science education that is started in Pre-Kindergarten will set the foundation for their elementary years and beyond!
