Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school is a beautiful, diverse community that focuses on community-based projects. A core part of our curriculum is connecting students to literature and books that resonate with their lived experience and inspires them.
By creating a library of books with diverse cultural, linguistic characters and connecting students with high-interest content, I hope to build a love of reading and learning for all of my students.
With your help, I hope to create a library that will inspire and enliven student's imaginations and sense of agency in the world.
My Project
If this project is funded, I can help support my students in choosing a book early on in the school year that will excite them. One of the most important components of growing student's reading skills is connecting them with books that inspire them. Students need to be able to see themselves in books, and your donations will help all of my students personally connect to a story of their choice.
I have seen first hand how moved and inspired students get when they find a book that they can personally connect to.
