My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, some of my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I want my students to know I believe in them and they can do anything. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
First grade is a magical year for my students, and so much learning takes place in first grade. My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in reading.
It is important to foster a love of reading at a young age.
Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my first-grade students. The traditional flash cards are not going to cut it for these 21st-century learners!
I am asking for magnetic alphabet tiles, pipe cleaners, letter beads, Play-doh, dry erase chalkboard pads, books, and magnetic easels. These items will help make learning sight words fun and engaging for my students! Once my students have mastered their sight words then they will have the tools needed to begin reading.
