My students need books and a filing cabinet to add more space in the classroom. The plastic bins that are used to store materials take up a lot of additional room. A filing cabinet would be a much more efficient way for storage.
My students are from a diverse background. I have several international students, black and white children. They are incredible children!! They love to learn and thrive on school projects. Our school has been in a renovation program and we are in a new classroom. Although being in a new space is wonderful, we are required to have new furniture and organizing items. I'm in dire need of a new filing cabinet. Its just not efficient storing files for curriculum in plastic bins. It takes much longer to find things and I spend lots of time searching for files. I'd love to get a new filing cabinet before school dismisses for the year. That way I"d be able to arrange everything before the new class arrives!
My Project
This new filing cabinet would give the classroom additional space. Right now many materials are in plastic bins under tables. With a filing cabinet I would be able to retrieve materials at a much faster pace! Therefore my students would receive more instruction and practice time. Its such a simple request, but it would be so much more efficient!
Our new classrooms only came with one filing cabinet.
Since teachers have materials for 180 days, that is just not enough storage for a classroom. I'd love to add one more filing cabinet for materials. If I could get another filing cabinet, it could hold many of these resources. It would make my job easier and then I'd be able to spend more time teaching instead of hunting for things!
Also it would be great to get some new books. Most of our books are used donated books. They kids would be thrilled to have something new for a change! One of my goals each year is to have children fall in love with reading! Whenever you have new books new interest is created in the classroom! I think my students will greatly benefit from having new books in their library. Also a new filing cabinet will give them more space to enjoy a good book! We are getting a grow lab in the room. We can have a bigger book nook if the materials are organized in a filing cabinet.
