This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher, and I am beyond excited to teach where I student-taught. I look forward to continue building many great relationships with teachers, staff, and students. Although I am a first year teacher, I have worked with many different types of students throughout student teaching and substituting. My favorite part about working with students is how differently each student learns.
I look forward to meeting all of my students this year and cannot wait to help them build strong foundations for their future.
My Project
Reading is an essential part of children's early lives. Through this project, I want to help the students in my classroom to have a variety of books that will help them learn to read and become great readers. I chose books, such as The 7 Habits of Happy Kids Collection and Don't Squeal Unless It's a Big Deal: A Tale of Tattletales, that teach lessons and have vibrant illustrations. Some of the books are beginner reader's books that will be steps in these student's process of learning to read.
I plan to use these books as read alouds and as choices for children to read in our classroom library.
