Help me give my students continued access to learning materials printed by their teacher. This project includes items needed to prepare learning packets, including ink and paper supplies as well as a document camera to model lessons.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves students in Grades K-8. We are a public charter school that receives Title I funding, with 90% of our students coming from low-income households and eligible for free and reduced-price lunches (FRL). I teach an energetic group of 4th graders from a diverse community! Since our school closed for the academic year due to COVID-19 safety concerns, keeping them connected and engaged to online learning has been challenging. Some do not have internet access and rely on printed learning materials, while others are struggling with making the adjustment to learning outside our classroom and need other resources to support computer-based learning.
Each day, I am learning something new about Distance Learning and want to position myself to provide my students with all the resources that they need to make this new school experience meaningful.
My Project
I have multiple printers at home that enable me to prepare a variety of materials for my students. Most lessons, posters, and printed items are printed and laminated for use by my students. They are accustomed to having a classroom tailored to their learning needs and I want to extend this standard to their home-based learning environments.
This project will provide needed classroom supplies to enable me to continue preparing and printing materials for my students as well as making it more convenient for me to remotely model lessons for them.
I am requesting paper, printer toner/ink, laminating pouches, velcro dots, and paper trimmer blades, all of which will allow me to prepare student materials without interruption and deliver them quickly to my students by U.S. mail. I am available to meet with my students online to explain math and reading concepts; therefore, having a document camera will equip me to model sample problems for them either through live presentations on Google Meet or screen recordings for on-demand viewing by students.
