We are a high school choir program in a rural school district in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The program was started just last year, and we have grown from 11 students to 40 students who love to sing and perform. Most of these had no experience singing in a performing group until last year, and they are so excited to be a part of this choir.
In our first year, established quality rehearsal technique as well as performance etiquette.
This year, with the increased number of students, we are looking forward to learning new music and planning more performances.
My Project
With a very limited selection of music currently available to our choir, I have selected a variety of choral music as well as choral warm-ups and accompanying CD tracks. This music will be used in daily rehearsal as the students learn to sing in 3-part and 4-part harmony.
In addition, this music will be used in performances.
Our choir will perform for the community, using this repertoire. There are many opportunities within these selections for solos, small groups, and our large ensemble to sing and perform together.
The choral warm-ups I have selected will be a learning tool used in every rehearsal, and the music selections will challenge students with advanced harmony parts.
