Our class consists of a diverse group of 6 and 7 year old students. We are located in an active ski town, where many weekends and evenings are devoted to sports, most predominantly skiing. We often incorporate movement into our classroom to support learning.
We love to learn and we also love to move!
This project will help make our class a more flexible learning environment that adapts to our needs! We are an eager class of learners, ready to take on the challenges of 1st Grade!
My Project
The school day can be long and hard for many students. This project will help build a more flexible learning environment in our 1st grade classroom. With the addition of several tools and devices such as floor chairs, surf desks and wobble cushions, students will be able to make a comfortable, private space.
Students will be able to self-select the device or tool that will best support them as they face the task at hand.
They will be encouraged to experiment with different seats or tools to see what is most fitting for the individual. Just as with adults, students have different learning preferences and needs. This project will help fulfill the individual learning needs of our many students!
