My Students

As an EL co-teacher and specialist at a Title I designated elementary school, I work with over 80+ students - varying from first to fifth grade. The community of wonderful learners I serve day in and out are DIVERSE, AMAZING, DEDICATED, BEAUTIFUL and BRILLIANT! They inspire and challenge me to be the BEST educator I can be every day and I want to go above and beyond to inspire them to also be the BEST versions of themselves! - Ms. Hagi

My Project

Growing up as an immigrant black child, I lived in the library. Books were my favorite companions. Sadly, however I hardly ever saw myself represented in the books I read. Now that I am a teacher, at a school with a majority minority population (54%+) - a great portion of these learners being ELLs (English Language Learners) - it is more important than ever that I increase the exposure and access to diverse texts. I want my learners to SEE themselves in the books they read and that are read to them. Please help me accomplish this ambitious goal! :)
