Building a Culture of Collaboration and Girl Power!
My students need empowering books to inspire young girls to be independent thinkers and to support one another, as well as Ozobots to bring the stories to life and encourage collaboration.
As a first year ELA teacher, it's my goal to provide my students with the necessary materials to enhance their academic abilities and facilitate their comprehension. I have a diverse group of students from military families that need a welcoming and supportive classroom environment. My students are faced with many challenging circumstances that pertain to military life including family separation, transitions, and other life changing events, which ultimately have an impact on students' academic performance.
My students love learning and flourish when given the opportunity to try new things.
I believe in providing them with a safe place to grow and giving them all the necessary resources to accomplish this!
My Project
We are in need of resources that can inspire the young women in my class to build a classroom culture of togetherness. We will use the books to help students focus on inspiring women that encourage creativity, boldness, and how to support other women to achieve greatness. I want the young girls I teach to build stronger collaborative relationships that build up each other's self-esteem and facilitate teamwork.
The ozobots will be used to bring the collaborative skills to life.
They will work in groups to create inspiring scenes from the books they read and reenact them using the ozobots. This will be done through working together by planning and building the settings of the books, coding the ozobots, and reenacting the scenes.
